India Summer Program
Disasters, Policies and Social Challenges
Join BCA for a unique interdisciplinary program looking at the politics of disaster, focusing on India as a case study. India provides several natural, environmental
and man-made disaster situations, the study of which can help students arrive at
an understanding of how various bodies of academic research influence, impact and
drive ground responses.
Faculty from the Foundation for Ecological Research, Advocacy and Learning (FERAL) take students to field sites for first-hand experiences. Students also meet with a variety of individuals, NGOs and academic institutions that have been involved in disaster relief, rehabilitation and risk management. Field experiences include technical tools such as rapid assessments and vulnerability mapping.
This is program is designed for students in a wide range of academic disciplines, including political science, political economy, environmental science and policy, social theory and peace and justice.
Experience Pondicherry and you will:
• Study a variety of natural, environmental and man-made disasters.
• Travel to sites of disaster situations.
• Gain experience using technical tools in field work.
