- Fine Arts
- Biological Sciences and Animal Husbandry
- Health Sciences
- Economics-Administration
- Humanities/Liberal Arts
- Technical Academic Area
The university campus encompasses 32 departments, 22 centers of research, a foreign language center, a school for foreign students, a child music education center, athletic facilities, and a library and information services system.
All BCA Mexico students participate in BCA's program in cultural orientation and intensive language instruction prior to the start of regular classes. This three- to four-week program is based at Universal Centro de Lengua y Comunicación Social in Cuernavaca and includes visits to important historic cities and sites.
After completing this pre-semester course, students go to Xalapa, where they choose their courses in conjunction with the BCA resident director. Students with sufficient language skills may enroll directly in regular university courses; others take courses offered through the university's Escuela para Estudiantes Extranjeros.
During the semester, students are expected to attend all classes and complete all work assigned in class. All assignments must be completed by the end of the semester.
Overview of Courses
Before regular classes begin, you'll spend nearly four weeks at BCA's cultural orientation and intensive language program in Cuernavaca. This is the equivalent of a full summer or Jan-term language session which comes at no extra cost when you enroll with BCA Mexico for a semester. During this language orientation, you'll also visit important historic cities and sites, with BCA as your guide.
During orientation, BCA students register for classes and receive academic advisement from the BCA Xalapa director.
Depending on their Spanish language level, BCA students take regular university courses or courses designed for foreign students. Classes at the University of Veracruz are challenging and encourage students to engage the subject material on a daily basis.

BCA Course: The Global Conversation
All BCA students are strongly encouraged to take The Global Conversation, which is taught by the BCA resident director. This 3-credit, semester-long course has both online and face-to-face components that will encourage you to get involved in the local community as well as share your experiences with other students studying around the world. In Xalapa, you will find yourself engaged in exploratory exercises to assess needs and social issues in the society around you.
